Aurence and I had invited Galen, and his wife Brenda, as well as Danny’s sister Patsy to our house for a day on the river. It was the least we could do for them for bringing Aurence together with Danny once again. Patsy declined but sent photos. We found ourselves sitting around talking about Danny and going over photos once again. Since Danny has a marker at Aurence’s memorial to the Huey that landed in our backyard, we felt it fitting that we place Danny’s photos by his marker. We lit a candle and burned incense. Aurence and Galen, dressed in their river clothes, proudly saluted him.
Shortly before our gathering, I began to hear from Danny’s three half-sisters whom we had not known about. They were eager to share more memories of Danny and sent more mementos for us to us on this site.
It is nice to be able to share the love and memories of Danny and preserve them for those who will one day wonder about the face in a box of fading photographs. Someone can take them to the Internet and say, “Here he is. You are related to this hero who fought bravely in the Vietnam War."
We have become good friends with Danny's family and hope to post more photos of our gatherings. Danny, you are loved and will never be forgotten!
