- Dwight Eisenhower

They say everyone gets fifteen minutes of fame. Not only has Aurence become a noted artist he was chosen to be a part of the filming of an amazing documentary, In the Shadow of the Blade, and was asked to help see the star of the documentary, Huey 091, to the Smithsonian where she will be part of The Price of Freedom exhibit for 30 years. Some people let such things go to their heads. Not Aurence. He is overly modest about being such an important part of history. He looks at this as the parade he, and all those who came back from Vietnam, never received. His participation allowed him to honor all those who served and gave their lives for their country.
In The Shadow of the Blade is not only the parade veterans never received but the warm, "Welcome home." words they never heard. Both Aurence and I hold great admiration for those who dared to take on such a project. Nothing like it has ever been attempted. Flying 10,000 miles in a restored Vietnam-era Huey, the producers took the workhorse of Vietnam to the men and women who bravely served our country. They landed in the backyards (ours to name one), farms, and fields across America. What a project! And it keeps growing. What began as a film became a journey for those involved. Veterans have become not just subjects in a movie but family. That is rare in this day and age.
From the producers, to the crew, to the pilots, to those who gave selfishly of thier time and money to make this happen, "Kudos!" You are all our heroes.
